Bellingham is the largest city in and the county seat of Whatcom County in the U.S. state of Washington, and the eleventh largest city in the state. It is situated on Bellingham Bay, which is protected by Lummi Island, Portage Island, and the Lummi Peninsula, and opens onto the Strait of Georgia. It lies west of Mount Baker and Lake Whatcom (from which it gets its drinking water) and north of the Chuckanut Mountains and Skagit Valley. Whatcom Creek runs through the center of the city.

Semiahmoo Bay, often referred to locally simply as Semiahmoo, is the southeastern section of Boundary Bay on the Pacific coast. Bordering Canada, the area includes Peace Arch State Park as well as the community of Blaine, Washington. The name Seimiahmoo is a Native American word meaning "half moon."

Blaine's Drayton Harbor opens into Seiahmoo Bay; the harbor is separated from the main body of the bay by Semiahmoo Spit. Located on the spit is the Semiahmoo Resort.

The Campbell River flows into Semiahmoo Bay on the Canadian side; California Creek and Dakota Creek flow into Drayton Harbor on the US side.

Birch Bay is approximately 100 miles north of Seattle, WA and 50 miles south of Vancouver, BC, Canada. The population was 4,961 at the 2000 census.
